Do you Support or Oppose Creationism being taught in Schools?
The Russian Orthodox Church called on Wednesday for an end to the "monopoly of Darwinism" in Russian schools, saying religious explanations of creation should be taught alongside evolution.

I SUPPORT I OPPOSE
I SUPPORT Creationism being taught in Schools. The Bible indicates my SUPPORT of teaching an alternative theory to evolution. I OPPOSE Creationism being taught in Schools. The Barrel of Monkeys indicates my OPPOSITION to religion in schools and belief in adherence to documented scientific explanation.

As if this hasn't been written a million times: Religion should be taught in religion class. Science should be taught in Science class. The Theory of Evolution is based upon observationally provable and testable science. Although the Theory has been generally and specifically upheld with a century of testing, it continues to be modified and corrected. Creationsim is based upon faith. There is no scientific method to measure Creationism. It's not science. It's faith, or at best, interpretive natural philosophy. On the other hand, science cannot measure God. The two subjects can interact, be mutually supportive or not, but they are not even vaguely similar disciplines. There is nothing about Evolution that proves or disproves the existance of God. For that matter, if one believes in God, there is nothing that procludes God from utilizing Evolution.

Religion should be taught in schools, but it should cover a wide range of religions. just like art history covers all art and not just the post-impressionist period. I also think that the world would be a better place with an understanding of the thoughts and beliefs of the people who live on this planet.

There are so many versions of so many texts of so many religions it would e impossible to simmer them down and teach them all. Better keep it out of the schools and in the chapel where it belongs.

I can''t believe that in this day and age this is still a topic of conversation. I guess Bush and big business are accomplishing their goals of dumbing down America while enriching their friends. Nice work if you can get it.

You know Thor..you can blame Bush for global warming, Katrina, the recent EQ in China and a lot of other shit but the dumbing down of America has been going on for decades and you can blame the liberal dweebs running your schools and colleges for that. GW may speak ebonically but he doesnt promote it for everyone.

I think every possibility should be taught in school as correct since we really don't know anything actually, positively, for sure, at all. I think along with science, pseudo-science, creationism, chiropractic medicine, intelligent design, unintelligent design, and the big bang theory (which is just massage-ism with a happy ending), we should teach communism, nazi-ism, marxism (Karl and Groucho), racism, republicanism (scary shit that!!), homosexuality, beastiality and "fucking dead goats just in case it gets us to a place when we die where we don't have to pay for taxes, gas and rent and get unlimited virgins to deflower." Gawd. Have we really come so short?
